In what can only be described as a “Nail Biter” finish, the Southwest High School Eagles defeated the Vincent Memorial Catholic High School Scots in a last second win with the final score Eagles 28 – Scots 27. With both teams coming in off a last from their previous week most thought that with Vincent Memorial’s un-tested quaterback Sophmore Jacobo Elias that they would not be ready for the bigger front of the Southwest Eagles but the second that Jacobo Elias took the field, everything changed. Senior, Diego Elorduy is the Scots starting Quarterback however, and injury in last week’s game against San Diego High limited his practice time and Coach David Wong decided to move forward with the change under center to Sophmore Jacobo Elias.
“This was definitely the Game of the Week” said Valley Sports Network Founder Will Torres. As it was clear that what we were watching unfold was a star in the making as Elias dip, ducked, dodged and out scrambled his opponent for nearly four quarters. Scots head coach David Wong said during Media Day “We are a young team, lots of coaching but we study film and study our opponent, we setup based off of what they setup with and we play to our strengths, our success is if we cant run the ball then we’ll throw it, it we can’t throw the call then we’ll run it.”
