Vincent Memorial shuts out Southwest, 34–0
At Eagles Field on the Southwest High campus, the Vincent Memorial Scots opened Desert League play with a 34–0 victory over the Eagles.
Junior quarterback Juani Mendoza delivered an outstanding performance, throwing four touchdown passes and rushing for another. The Scots’ defense was stingy all night, making it difficult for Southwest to sustain scoring drives and earning the team its third shutout of the season.
Wide receiver Alvaro Apodaca caught three touchdown passes of 17, 26 and 46 yards. Guillermo Galvan added a 35-yard receiving touchdown and an interception. Leonardo Valenzuela, Ignacio Perez and Jaden Real had strong performances for the Eagles.
The 5–1 Scots face Mountain Empire next, while the 2–3 Eagles host the Coachella Valley Arabs.
